How Well Is The Air Conditioner Working At Your Home?

When your air conditioner is not cooling your house, it is not doing what it was designed to do. That can be a big problem – especially here in Arizona! Prescott Air Conditioning explains some reasons why the air conditioner may not be working well at your Prescott home.PAC Old Logo (Small)

An Unmaintained Condenser Unit
One of the most problematic, yet often most overlooked aspects of AC maintenance is the outside condenser. Your condenser is outside and always requires good airflow. That doesn’t happen if it is wrapped with weeds and grass! Regularly monitor and maintain the area around your condenser unit.

Insufficient Airflow
If there is not enough air coming through your vents, it doesn’t matter how cold your AC makes the air. You won’t feel cooler because the cool air is not flowing properly. Prescott Air Conditioning can run some simple tests to determine if there is an air flow problem.

Electrical Problems
Sometimes a breaker can be tripped, but it won’t flip into the “OFF” position. This is often an easy fix. Find the breakers, flip them completely to the “off,” then back on again. This may fix the problem.

Thermostat Issues
This problem can be difficult to spot. If your thermostat’s display is blank, that is one indication something inside has malfunctioned. It could require the simple replacement of a battery. If that doesn’t take care of the problem, a licensed HVAC professional, like Prescott Air Conditioning, can further troubleshoot this issue for you.

Frozen Air Handler
If none of the previous solutions take care of your AC’s cooling problem, look behind your air filter inside the unit’s evaporator coils. They may be frozen. If so, you’ll need to turn the unit off for about 24 hours. The coils will probably be dirty. Prescott Air Conditioning has a special cleaning chemical they spray on the coils.
